Structural Glazing System
واجهات زجاج استركشر
A structural glazing system creates a sleek, modern façade by securing glass to a supporting frame using structural silicone or specialized fittings, minimizing visible external aluminium. Saudi Aluminium Works provides structural glazing contracting services for towers, malls, showrooms, and hotel lobbies across Saudi Arabia.
How Structural Glazing Works
With structural silicone glazing, a high-strength structural silicone sealant bonds the glass to an aluminium sub-frame. The silicone transfers wind load, dead load and thermal movement from the glass to the mullions behind it. Because no metal crosses the outer face, there’s less thermal bridging and the exterior surface is uninterrupted.
The width and depth of the silicone bond, known as the silicone bite, is calculated for each project from glass size and design wind pressure. Our engineers design to ASTM C1401, the standard guide for structural sealant glazing. Every silicone batch is adhesion-tested on the actual project profiles and glass before production.

Types of Structural Glazing
4-Sided SSG
Curtain Wall
Structural Silicone Glazing (SSG) bonds glass to the supporting frame with silicone, creating a sleek façade with minimal visible aluminium.
2-Sided Structural Glazing
Two-sided structural glazing combines silicone bonding with mechanical fixings, creating clean glass façades with defined lines at a lower cost than four-sided glazing.
Point Fixed Glazing (Spider Glazing System)
Spider glazing uses stainless steel fittings to create sleek, frameless glass façades, ideal for hotel lobbies, showrooms, atriums, and entrance canopies.
Built for Saudi Heat, Sand and Salt
Frameless glazing in Saudi Arabia has to cope with conditions that would damage a standard system:
Structural silicone sealant
only sealants approved for high-temperature service and UV exposure, applied to the manufacturer’s specification
Tempered glass

heat-soak tested to reduce the risk of spontaneous breakage from nickel sulfide inclusions, which matters most on spider systems
Laminated glass

used for overhead, canopy and glass fin panels, so broken glass stays in place
Stainless steel 316

used for all spider fittings and tension rods, especially on coastal projects in Jeddah and the Eastern Province where salt air corrodes lower grades
Insulated glass units

low-E double glazing with structural secondary seals to meet SBC 601 U-value and SHGC limits
Our Applications
Where We Install Frameless Glass Facades
- Hotel lobbies and entrances: spider glazing on glass fins for full-height transparency
- Corporate towers: 4-sided unitized SSG curtain wall
- Malls and showrooms: large-format point fixed glazing and 2-sided SSG shopfronts
- Atriums and canopies: laminated overhead glass on tension rod structures
Request a Structural Glazing Design
Send us your elevations, glass sizes and the project location. Our engineers will propose an SSG or spider glazing system, with silicone bite and fitting details and a budget estimate, within 7 working days. We supply frameless glazing in Saudi Arabia from Al Khobar to Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam and beyond.
