Energy Retrofit Facades
An energy retrofit facade can significantly reduce a building’s cooling load. Typical measures in a thermal upgrade include:
- Replacing single glazing with low-E double glazing
- Thermal break frames in place of old non-insulated aluminium
- Insulation added behind new rainscreen cladding
- External shading on east, west and south elevations
New systems are designed to meet SBC 601 for the upgraded building envelope and can support Mostadam ratings for existing buildings. Retrofits also support the national energy efficiency goals led by the Saudi Energy Efficiency Center (SEEC).
